SideWinder came about as a concept to help improve how Air Hoses and Electrical Cables connected between a Semi Truck and Trailer and Trailer Axles. Dave Kuker, owner of DK Manufacturing and Dave Kuker Trucking always thought “There must be a better way to do this?” dealing with Air Hoses being damaged because of how they are controlled with excess lengths wrapped in tape and plastic then hung from brackets using springs and straps – all the while exposed to the elements” After many hours dwelling on this, he came up with the idea to create a mechanism that would automatically retract the Air Hoses and Electrical Cable in and out. Several prototype designs were made until the final design was tested and proven in 2013. In 2014 a U.S. Patent was issued; since then 3 SideWinder units 2 Truck & 1 Trailer versions is currently on the road and working. DK Manufacturing is in the process of ramping up for full production, first production SideWinders are scheduled to release in the spring 2016.
